This is what I like about FedsFeedFamilies.gov, a gov 2.0 website:

  • It doesn’t look like a federal government website
  • It has a great mission and sense of purpose
  • The colors are both warm and cool and inviting
  • Designer elements like the squiggly lines and brush strokes are cool
  • The logo is creative, unique and visually telling – it can stand alone
  • The navigation is intuitive and simple
  • The photos are fun and uplifting
  • The Calls to Action are clear and compelling
  • The Donations so far widget is high-tech, visual and effective
  • Great social bookmarketing (bookmarking) chicklets for:
  • RSS feeds of the blog are pulled to the front page under News & Events
  • Great leveraging of social media
    • Beautiful integration of Google’s YouTube videos
    • Elegant integration of photos from Flickr
    • Follow us on Twitter
  • Great embedded videos of President Obama & Michele Obama
  • Nice use of Flash, AJAX, CSS, ASPX, etc.

Hats off to the folks behind Feds Feed Families.
